RESOLUTION HEALTH SUPPORT WORKERS (RHSW'S)

RHSW's are a team of First Nations counselors/support workers who provide the following services to former students of Residential Schools and their families:  

  • support before, during and after the Independent Assessment Process (hearings for claims for compensation for abuses resulting from attendance at a Residential School);
  • assistance with the resolution of outstanding Common Experience Process claims (pre-determined monetary compensation set aside for former students of Residential Schools);
  • assistance with any other compensation process; and
  • support before, during and after the Truth and Reconciliation and Commemoration events (assisted coordination handled by the Tsow-Tun-Le-Lum Society).

 

Cultural Support Team

The Cultural Support Team consists of spiritual elders and healers who live on Vancouver Island and provide the following services to survivors of Residential Schools and their families:  

  • ceremony and spiritual support before, during and after the Independent Assessment Process;
  • support with unresolved Common Experience Process claims; and
  • support before, during and after the Truth and Reconciliation and Commemoration events.

Cultural support is arranged through the Tsow-Tun-Le-Lum Society.
